Helllooo to alllll
Guys the mission just gets better and better and sister Morrison just
gets better and better and my life just gets better and better. Can I
get an amen?
AMEN
This week was an awesome week, I can't believe how fast 7 days fly.
Time goes fast. Too fast for sure.
This week we had meeting after meeting but they were great as always.
We had our Zone meeting this week! Our vision this transfer is "let's
do S'more". We talked about how we can always go higher, do more than
we think we are able. During the stretch break of the meeting we made
s'mores in the church kitchen on the electric stoves. It reminded me
of the times at home and school that I ate electric burnt s'mores off
the end of forks haha
We had zone conference this week and I LOVE ZONE CONFERENCE because I
love President and Sister Wright. I always feel so much more motivated
to go and do the Lords work afterwords. Sister Wright talked about
what the savior did when he came to the Americas. Those chapters in 3
nephi between 11-28 truly show the characteristics of the savior. One
of my favorite parts is in chapter 17. It says that after the savior
asked the people to kneel he himself kneeled to the ground. I love
that verse because I love the visual of this verse. Here the savior of
the world just suffered all the sins of the world and here he is in
his resurrected body, just saving all of human race and he is so
humble that he himself kneels with all the people. The savior of the
world kneels. I love that.
A special thing happened this week, one day me and sister Morrison
were going around looking for less active members and talking to
people. We were looking on this list of people and saw this couple who
we had never met before whose wife was less active. We knocked on the
door and a very old man answered the door and let us in. He then began
to tell us that last week his wife of 63 years of marriage had passed
away. all day he had been thinking about her and here we knock on his
door. He said he knows he will see her again but what a tender mercy
that God sent us to him so that he could have it testified to him
again that he will once again not only see his wife but hug her and
hold her hand. It was a very tender moment. Since being on my mission
I am overwhelmed by how God works. How God uses us to be his
instruments to show us that we are always remembered and we are never
forgotten. I like to think maybe it was half God that sent us to
brother Peterson but also half sister Peterson making sure that her
husband knew she got there safe.
One of our investigators is so cool. He used to fly B-6 planes in the
air force and worked his way up to be the secretary for the airforce
and work in the White House. Any way he is like the real deal, and I
just want to paint his house red white and blue because he's done so
much for our country. It's really awesome because he has had so much
power in his life and been a leader in the Air Force for so long but
yet he lets two 20 year old girls come into his house to teach him
about the gospel. It's very humbling to me that God has the capability
to soften our hearts so that we can recognize truth when we feel it.
He had surgery this week so we brought him over a card. He was SO
happy that we stopped by and couldn't believe that we would care
enough to stop by to see how he was doing. At church the next day a
member stopped us and told us that he shows everyone the card haha
gosh he is the best. His wife died about a year ago and he wants so
badly to believe that he will really really see her again but doubt
creeps in and he is still having trouble understanding gods plan of
happiness for us. He is so great though. During the lesson when we
teach him he winks at us haha it sometimes catches me off guard hahaha
I should wink back next time haha I would really catch him off guard
haha
This week my tummy has not been feeling too hot. Everything I eat
makes me get a not so fun tummy ache. We mentioned it to our district
leaders and during our nightly planning there was a knock and on the
door step was three tubs of ice cream. Best district leaders everrr.
The next day we were talking with a member and he goes "elders these
days are crazy. just last night I saw two elders buying three tubs of
ice cream at 8:55 and I thought oh dear..." Hahahha it was so funny I
was like "oh my goodness. When will elders learn haha"
Sister Morrison is so awesome guys. You would love her just as much as
I do. We found out we have the same birthday so immediately I was like
wow finally someone who is born on the greatest day ever. I respect
you even more sister abbey Morrison. It's been so much fun this week
to do missionary work with her. She is learning fast and has such good
inputs and comments she just needs to open her mouth more haha Every
morning I have her run 2 1/2 miles with me hahahha I'm 83% sure she
hates it but she tells me she doesn't haha she is just too nice to
tell me or she's horribly scared of me. 50 50 chance
I've been doing a lot of talking with sister Morrison and I learned
that a year ago her best friend broke his neck and became paralyzed
from the neck down. We have talked a lot about her friend. Wondering
why someone so young would have to go something so awful. We came to
the conclusion that God doesn't plan bad things to happen. It's just
part of being mortal. Our bodies aren't perfect and because they
aren't perfect, things break. How amazing that after this life we will
get a body that doesn't break, why? Because God loved us so much he
sent his son that through him we can be like him. That we can overcome
mortality. " there is a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time
to build up;" Ecclesiastes 3:3. just because some people feel broken
now doesn't mean that they will never feel whole.
This week there was a moment after we taught a lesson and we were
riding home and blurting good ole gospel music in the car and I felt
so grateful to be a missionary. To knock on doors and testify of the
savior. Everyday I love that I get to witness his atonement in my life
and the lives around me. His atonement has forever changed my life, I
don't have to be the same person because of Him.
Miss you all so much. Love you long time xoxo
