This week was good, the weeks have all been good so I'm hoping that's how it stays haha but just because I said that next week will be the week of death hahah
This week we went to dinner at a members home who does the coolest thing. She calls it "Mystery Monday" where she cooks a completely new recipe from appetizers to main course to dessert. This week was Chinese style so we had a good ole Asian meal. I loved the idea though and her kids were so excited to see what the mystery food was
This week we had Exchanges again. It was very fun! Sister Free came up to West Sacramento with me. Sister Free is way cool. She is also going to Utah State after her mission so we bonded because we bleed blue. We went and visited these two widows who are pretty old but so cute. I think they told us the same story 53 times haha One of the ladies had just turned 99 the day before and she made sure we would never forget. "did you know that i am 99? I'm 99 did you know? 99 years is how old I am. 99 years ago I was born" she is seriously so cute. 99 years and going strong.
Our dinner canceled so we went and got dinner at a Hawaiian BBQ place. I was hoping it would taste like Mo'betahs because thats heaven on earth but unfortunately not quite. It was still good though and the Hawaiian people in the restaurant were so nice. I think I need to move to Hawaii. wow would that be the life. I could have macaroni salad and Hawaiian BBQ chicken every day all day.
I showed sister free my dance move and she told me I am the worst dancer she has ever seen. So maybe I am as bad as everyone says haha She taught me how to whip so In a 16 months Ill show you guys how good I am at that haha I know you can't wait to see what Ive got up my sleeve
We did a surprise birthday party for one of the ladies we have met up here and she was so excited she started to cry. It was so much fun and she was so happy. She just kept on crying haha sister saavedra would say "dont cry its your birthday" in her cute accent haha she was visibly concerned for her haha `--that describes sister saavedra for you though she is so kind. heart of gold people.
West Sacramento is an odd place and while we were walking to a referrals house we saw all these barbie heads.. it was so odd and I had to take a picture with it haha There are some creepy things in west sacramento. People don't believe me when I tell them that its ghetto so hopefully this will convert the non believers.
On Thursday, we went down to Davis to help out with another missionary's investigators house. He is a hoarder. At first I was like nothing can phase me, I've watched TLC. but OH MY GOSH. i thought wrong... There was so much stuff in the house that you couldnt even walk straight, you had to slide between the isles of stuff that went from the floor to the ceiling. The upstairs had so much stuff that you had to step on it and your head was almost touching the ceiling. I went upstairs for a little bit to help but it was too much for me so I came outside to get some fresh air. As I was sitting down with one of the other sisters, she told me that they found a dead dog and a dead cat in the upstairs last time they were here to help. UMMM WHATTT. You should have seen my face. After that I told them that I was best suited to help outside. Me and one of the other sisters decided to go in the backyard which is worse than the house due to the fact all the tall piles of stuff got rained on so everything is wet and wow. talk about an experience. We all felt so bad because if he doesn't get it under control the city is going to make him move out but its so bad the only thing that will help is to light the house on fire. like im not kidding. talk about a zone bonding experience haha
We went and saw MY FAVORITE members in the entire world. I love them so much. She is a FEEL good person and I love going over to her house to share a message. We were talking about weird animal stories and I thought I had some good ones but hers are good. She told us that she was doing laundry and she shut the dryer. A few minutes later she realized that there was a thump thump. She thought good heck which one of my girls put there shoes in the dryer. She opens the dryer and she hears meow. hahaha dont worry the cats alive and well but he is a little scarred. Moral of the story dont let sister andreotti care for your cat haha
We also went to winters this week to do a service project with the elders serving there. Winters is super super small but has a cute lil feel to it. we were able to help pick up all the trimmings from the trees that were being cut. One of the Elders in my zone is awesome. he has this way about him that he makes everyone feel included and loved. I am always so impressed by the way he handles himself. So much so that I want to be like him. My goal is from now on not just know the people in the zone's ill be in, but really get to know them individually, to make sure they feel loved. Guys elder achal is the best and in 10 months if you ever go to canada, hit him up and take him out for dinner or something because hes the best haha
Our investigator is getting baptized on Saturday! We are so excited for her! She is so awesome and has the cutest 2 year old son. She is going through a lot right now with health issues and money and it's cool to see her exercise her faith in the Lord and trust that it will all work out
This week we were able to meet with lots of people, members, non members, less actives. We got to share with them the new Easter video that the church has put out. If you haven't seen it yet, go watch it. It is my new favorite video. i don't know why but everytime we watch it, the spirit touches me so strong and I know without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus lives, that he was resurrected and because of that we all can be resurrected.
I want to bear my testimony. I know that this church is true. I know God lives. I know that Christ suffered for our sins and he was crucified and that he rose AGAIN. and that because of that we ALL can live again. That death has no sting, and the grave no victory.I know that we can see our loved ones again. I know they are waiting for us. I know that families can be together forever, whether it be our sister or our brother, our parents or any of our loved ones, that they are waiting and the reunion in heaven will be nothing short of glorious. I know it. God is real. I have seen him touch lives, change hearts in ways I can't describe. He has changed so many people's I have met out in California, and he has changed mine.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoso believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life"
love always and miss you lots
