Hello amigos y familia!
This week was good but bitter sweet due to the fact that transfers are
today and Sister Saavedra is leaving me to go to Winters and I'm
getting a new companion tomorrow. I don't have a lot of time Due to
the fact my companion is up north and me and my temporary companion
have to drive to Santa Rosa today. We are going to stay the night down
there, meet our new companions and then drive back from Santa Rosa to
West Sacramento tomorrow morning. Lots of drivinggg ieyyyy ieyyyy I am
so sad that Sister Saavedra is leaving me. She is my plus one and for
the past 7 weeks I have spent every waking moment with her haha my new
companions name is Sister Waits (at least that's how I think it's
spelled)
This week was conference aka the best weekend ever for missionaries.
My favorite part of the conference was not anything said but what our
sweet prophet did at the end of Sunday's morning session. As president
monson was leaving the conference center, he was walking slowly with
his body guard behind him helping him move along. As he passed by one
of the wives sitting in a wheel chair, he bent over, grabbed and
kissed her hand. It was such a tender sweet moment. It made me have
such a love for the prophet that when he says he loves us, he does.
And when he says he prays for us, he does. And when he has places to
go, a weak body, frail, tired, and so many things to do as the prophet
of the church, he stops to kiss the hand of a sweet old lady.
President monson is a good man, he is a man of God.
This week was sister saavedras birthdayyyyyy. 21 the members were so
sweet and had a party after conference for her. oh baby as we were
lighting her ice cream cake thing so she could blow out the candles, i
set the fire alarm on and it took forever to get it to shut up haha
the fire alarm going off is a very normal occurrence in our apartment.
Everything I cook, I burn and I set the fire alarm off daily. It's a
hard life when you can't cook
Sister Saavedra teaches me lots of things about Spain and cool fact
they don't put out cookies and milk for Santa they put out 3 bowls of
water for the 3 wise men's camel so the more you know
We had our last zone meeting and I had to say bye to my favorite
Hermana who is going home today! ahhh it's crazy how close you get to
people on the mission. They are your family away from home.
I love west Sacramento im glad I get another 6 weeks in the best place everrrr
This week I figured out what the hardest thing in the mission is and
it's not what I ever thought. The hardest thing of the mission is when
you teach people and they know it's true but they turn away, they say
no to what God wants to give them if they were to just exercise their
faith. This week we were teaching our investigators and we asked them
if they were ready to move forward and follow the example of Jesus
Christ and get baptized. They said they know the church is true but
they don't think it's the right thing, they are unsure . It broke my
heart. You teach these people things that will change their life,
enhance their life, and then you watch them turn away from the most
important thing they could ever know and do. I never thought I would
care so much for these people I meet here but oh boy was I wrong.
There are moments on the mission that make me feel so much joy but oh
man there are some moments of sorrow that bite. The gospel is so true.
I love the mission
ALSO to chase and Mallory thanks for your not funny April fools joke
