Hello everyoneeee :)
I love you and I miss you and I pray for you.
Thank you so much for all the support. You guys are the best!
This week was great. Every week is great and I just love Sister
Randall so much. She is the best guys. I remember when we first met
and she didn't speak, but now she talks and she's the best. All
we do is have the best time all day long and we get to be missionaries
at the same time. She's the best and that's why when I found out about
transfers I was way bummed.
On Saturday morning while we were getting ready, neither of us had the
phone and when we went into the room with our desks we had 3 missed
calls from President and a text message saying "Sister Thurgood please
call me. President." Talk about freaking out. I was for sure something
bad had happened. I mean who calls at 7:00 on a Saturday? Well I
guess everyday is the same as a missionary. We are up at 6:30. I called
him back and he told me that he loved my weekly email and that he
wanted the mission to read my cool experience and then he told me that
I was training a brand new missionary and that I was going to be a
Sister Training Leader. So I'm way excited, but super sad that
Sister Randall and I are going to be split up. Wow she's my favorite and wow
no fun! But it will be fun to see who my new companion will be. Any
guesses where she is going to be from. If you guess Utah you'll
probably have a 70% chance of being correct.
Today we helped set up the Town Halloween party. How fun! We
helped set up with our two buff grandmas. They are the two cutest
ladies. Afterwards they took us to lunch and all we did was laugh
and laugh and laugh. They are the best.
I made caramel and it was so bad. It turned rock solid. Like
when I hit it against the fridge, it didn't bend or break or dent or do
anything.
We had zone meeting this week! It was awesome. They had
Sister Randall, Sister Julander and me do a musical number...never again,
but all the elders were nice and lied and said it sounded good.
The elders are so nice in this zone.
We set a baptismal date with Jon! November 18th!! He's so awesome! I
feel so blessed to be a missionary!
During church we were sitting by my favorite family. They have the
cutest little kid ever and he looked behind him and saw this old man
dozing and yells, "Hey, wake up!" hahaha It was so funny. I was trying so
hard not to laugh, but me and the little boy's dad were bent over
laughing. hahaha
A few weeks ago I talked about a less active that we saw and how she
was really struggling with her testimony and how we invited her to
pray and read again to find out the truth. We saw her this week and
she told us she has been reading and praying!! But she hasn't come up
with her answer yet but she seemed SO MUCH HAPPIER. She even greeted
us with a big hug when we knocked on the door. I love the Spirit.
We had a lesson with this less active. She has been going through a
lot of hard things and she told us that the night before she was
talking to her husband and she said, "I don't even believe God exists
anymore." She began to cry and said, "How crazy is it that last night I
told my husband I don't believe in God and here you are telling me not
only that He exists but that he loves me. I can't deny the existence
of God anymore. He is real." It was so amazing; the Spirit was so strong
we were all in tears. I love being a missionary. These are moments that
can't be bought. The church is true.
I love the mission so much. I have grown so much. I feel so grateful
to be out here and definitely grateful for my parents who have
sacrificed so much so I could be here.
The mission has changed my life. I love my Savior.
I want to bear my testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, that God is
real. He loves you. He knows you and you are never alone. Pray to Him.
He will hear you and he will give you help. Don't forget that after
you pray, act in faith. Don't just plead, but perform. Act on your
faith. He will help you.
I love you all so much.
God is real. He has changed my life.
Godspeed
All my love,
Sister Thurgood
